Active Life Outdoor Challenge
Ran across this game today. Look pretty decent. The reviews for it look good, lots of people say its good cardio. I think I am going to have to get this one too. Doesn't interface with the Wii Fit Board, it comes with a mat like DDR.

Re: Active Life Outdoor Challenge
We bought this game - for our kids.
I don't really see this game as a fitness game, but more as something fun for your kids to do instead of sitting on the couch watching TV or playing video games. If your kids are going to play video games, this one is by far the least sedintary.
It's kind of fun, I guess, for adults. We play with our kids. It tires us out, for sure, but I don't think I'd every use it as a "workout".
(Our kids are under 5 years old.)

Re: Active Life Outdoor Challenge
Ok... I really need to read all the forums b4 I start a new topic...
I purchased the Outdoor challenge the other day, and we are all enjoying it quite a bit. I haven't used the excercise section of the game yet, just the free play and adventure area, but in the free play some of the games (trampoline, log jump...) can raise you heartrate and get you sweatin' it up pretty darn good.
Yes, it is gravitated towards the younger crowd, but my hubby and I are enjoying it along with our girls (8/5). We plan on using this along with our fit and other equipment to have variety in our workouts.
Cheers

Re: Active Life Outdoor Challenge
I have this but keep forgetting about it (due to my boston terriers, the mat has to be kept put up and out of sight when not in use). I do remember having a blast when I first bought it.
I think I also read somewhere (no clue where now, but back when I first looked up the game), that the company plans on putting out other games for a series of them.

My wife and I are the most competetive in the Log Leaper and Jumprope games. She has the record in both by just a little bit.

I also have this but haven't given it much of a try yet. I'm content for now using Samba De Amigo and Helix but I am planning on using this eventually when I start to get bored with those.

You should see my 2 1/2 year old do it. He doesn't quite grasp the timing of the jumping yet, so he just hops up and down like this guy --->. Hilarious!

How well does the mat work on carpeting? I have an area rug over my living room carpeting so it's kind of soft. I use a wood board under my Wii Fit balance board so it's more stable, but I don't think it would be big enough for a mat.

Re: Active Life Outdoor Challenge
I dont think you need to have anything under the pad. The wii fit board needs to have a good surface for the specific motion and weight sensors, since they are pretty specific. With the mat it seems to just notice if you are there or not. The only problem I have had with the pad that made the game frustrating is that when my dogs walk across it, it assumes thats me making movements. Dont know how many times my dogs paused the game putting it into menu mode by walking across the mat. And I dont even know how to do that intentionally. I wonder if you can set the options so that it only records game steps and selections are only done with the wiimote.

Re: Active Life Outdoor Challenge
to rainessa: Thanks for answering. I think I understand what you mean. The Wii Fit requires almost perfect balance on a lot of the games so being off a little bit off or a little soft can be a problem. But if all the mat for Active Life requires is that it registers something on there, than it should be okay even on my really soft carpeting.
I think this going to go on my list as a possible purchase along with My Fitness Coach and EA Sports Active.
